Beacon View

The opportunity to design a house on such a stunning site overlooking the Dingle Peninsula and Blasket Islands presented many challenges but also many opportunities. The design of the house had to maintain a traditional form, but also provide a modern house that nestled into the site and context. The house is three-storey, with the living area and terrace floating over the lower floor with bedrooms and a master bedroom suite above. The house was designed following the form of a lifeboat house with every space looking out over the sea and the panoramic view. Extensive glazing in the living space opens onto a terrace with a frameless glass balustrade. The Beacon sitting alongside the house has been framed with frameless corner glazing which also provides a 180-degree aperture from the kitchen, living and dining space looking out to sea.
